Connecting with Your MS in Applied Data Science Advisors
- Assist in planning and scheduling coursework aligned with graduation degree requirements.
- Provide guidance in navigating the administrative structure of the university.
- Offer support by providing information and resources needed for you to engage in informed decision-making.
We strongly believe advising is a collaborative approach and the responsibility for a successful advisor-advisee relationship lies with both parties. We expect advisees (you) to:
- Prioritize your graduate studies and optimize your time in the program.
- Check your email regularly, stay on top of important deadlines, and communicate with us when you need assistance.
- Take initiative and responsibility for your academic and career goals and openly share information with us.
Reaching Out to the MS in Applied Data Science Advising Team
Email correspondences and voicemail messages are only reviewed during regular business hours, Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and are not monitored after hours, on weekends, or during official University holidays. When reaching out to the MS in Applied Data Science Advising Team via email, you must include your UCID and status in the program (e.g., Full-time, Part-Time). Please note that responses to your outreach will be followed up within 48 hours during regular business hours.
In-Person Drop-In Advising
Graduate academic advisors will be available for in-person drop-in advising sessions every Wednesday during the Autumn Quarter from 4pm – 6 pm in NBC Tower 2800. You will be seen on a first come, first serve basis – depending on volume, there may be a slight wait. Please note that these are for quick questions (5-10 minutes). If you anticipate needing more time to speak with your advisor, please book an individual appointment with your assigned academic advisor. Please note: There will not Drop-In Advising on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 during Thanksgiving Break.
